Version-Evolution Roadmap

This timeline combines visible art versions with Git milestones. The repository only gained formal commits after much of v1–v3 had already been exported, so the archive never invents hashes for early visual iterations.

SNES INK8 / world building visual evidence

    SNES INK8 / world building

Larger master texels, material dithering, Maker loops and workshop scenes established native 466×466 composition and strict round-screen clearance.

  3. v5
CONSOLE-RGB16 / visual lock visual evidence

    2026-08-15

    CONSOLE-RGB16 / visual lock

Locked 16 colors, continuous 2 px outlines, red/yellow/blue material semantics, the CJK atlas and 111 runtime frames; web scope passed independent visual QA.

  4. handoff
    Migration contract visual evidence

    2026-08-16

    Migration contract

Separated the web into pure state, circular transactions, pixel assets, draw order, saves and hardware services, freezing non-degradation rules for ESP32.

  5. v6
    ESP32 physical milestone visual evidence

    2026-08-16

    ESP32 physical milestone

Integrated CO5300, CST9217, QMI8658, PCF85063, NVS, dual PSRAM canvases and the RGB565 pack, reaching a measured 29.8 FPS path.

  6. v7-web
    Round interaction v7 visual evidence

    2026-08-17

    Round interaction v7

Added three-stage hold/burst, banded tilt, black settings instrument, battery scoping, edge detents, SHOP preview/commit and strict first-input wake.

    9bfe9a6
  7. v7-device
    ESP32 v7 closure visual evidence

    2026-08-17 → 08-19

    ESP32 v7 closure

Corrected board IMU axes and completed audio, PWR standby/shutdown, ambient-display control and schema-v4 read-back. Complex saves measured about 26.2–26.7 FPS.

Main evolution

From terminology to a world

Early builds used abstract labels such as BIT / KERNEL / NODE / MODULE. Public language became Seed, Sparks, Makers, Tools, Star, Badges and Gifts so players aged nine and above can infer play through object relationships. Internal IDs remain for save compatibility.

From flat web UI to round-screen grammar

The earliest web prototype still had external controls and parallel information blocks. The round rebuild assigns pages to top arcs, secondary entries to the bottom circumference, the main action to a broad center region and cross-page navigation to edge rotation. The topology moves directly to touch hardware instead of shrinking a desktop page.

From correct frames to correct timing

After art lock, the hard problems became single commits, center-crossing jumps, effect trails, silent ambient mode and verified shutdown saves. v6/v7 turn these transient behaviors into testable contracts.

Recorded state

  • Web v7 golden commit: 9bfe9a6.
  • ESP32 v6 production commit: ff691b7.
  • The archive records later v7 device work at the evidence state in which it was captured; commit pages distinguish historical working-tree evidence from signed milestones.
